General

Everything we explain in this text is an extract of and an explanation about our "Terms of Sale". The text in this brochure is subordinate to the text of these terms were last filed with the Chamber of Commerce. Is there any contradiction, of course we try to avoid, then, the general sales conditions are operative.

When do you have warranty?

If within the guarantee the product no longer functions accordingly due to the product itself.

When do you not have warranty?

If within the guarantee the product no longer functions accordingly due to causes different then the product itself. The cause of defect is external from the product and will void the warranty.

Kinds of external causes of defect

Het woord onheil is in het Nederlands een beetje in onbruik geraakt. Ramp of rampspoed zijn goede synoniemen: het gaat om negatieve beïnvloeding van buitenaf. Vsoundbox blijft spreken van 'onheil van buitenaf', de officiële benaming.

Kinds of external causes of defect

Damage from often unknowingly external causes:
A. Sand Damage
B. Drop and impact damage
C. Moisture and water damage
The named external causes are not the only ones but are the most common.

A. Sand Damage

Sand can get into place you dont expect. For example:

A day at the beach
You will spend a day at the beach. Taking the product with you in a plastic bag or inside the original box. The product goes into the beach bag and yet it sand got into the product. This can cause damage when used because of the moving parts inside.
Football on the beach
You are on the beach and someone is playing football nearby. The ball comes your way and one of the players makes a sliding on the ball. Sand goes everywhere and also onto your bag.
You go back home
Your product is in your bag. At the end of the beach day you put your towel inside your bag. Sand comes lose from the towel and gets into the product. There was sand in your towel. Note: sand damage may be caused not only on the beach but wherever you find sand. The woods, playgrounds, amusement parks, road works etc.

B. Drop and impact damage

Most of the cracks or tears created on the product are fall and impact damage. This is not always visible.

When the product bumps or falls, it may happen that there is no visible damage to the outside. The sophisticated technology used inside the product may have sustained internal damage. Damage may occur partly due to the following reasons:

Your product gets jammed
Your product is in your pocket and you sit down. The product becomes trapped and is experiencing pressure. There is a chance that the button(s) of the product get pressed into the product. Damaging the insides.
Force
Your briefcase is almost full and you try to force your product to fit inside. You get the case closed with difficulty. Chances are that the button(s) get pressed into the product. Damaging the insides.
Oops, you drop your bag
You drop your bag and discover that the product has been damaged.
You're trapped
You go to an amusement park and take your product into the most spectacular attraction. The safety catch is fixed tightly and the product gets trapped. Or the product gets slammed during the rid.

C. Moisture and water damage

Moisture damage and water damage are two different things.
We explain the differences below:

Water damage
When we think of water damage caused by water we think of:
- Your product has fallen in the pool or in the toilet.
- You used your product in the rain.
Moisture Damage
Moisture damage is damage that is often caused without realizing it (see examples below) but can be prevented like water damage when used carefully. Sometimes you have to consciously take measures to prevent moisture damage to your product.

What we mean with water damage is clear. We will describe our meaning of moisture damage in more detail.

Moisture damage after visible moisture
You usually do not know about moisture damage when it occurs. For instance:
- A day at the beach
You go to the beach and decide to use the product. From inadvertent splashes on the product, there seems to be nothing to worry about. In retrospect, however, this can cause major problems by the salt water. Seawater causes tremendous damage. The foot oxidizes and will no longer be able to be used as you did. Or the copper tracks are on the printed circuit boards (road) etched. Salt also increases the conductivity of water and may result in electrical damage in this way.
- Spills
Accidentally you spill coffee or lemonade on your product. Hastily wipe it off and make sure everything still works. Unfortunately, in many cases oxidation can still arise afterwards.
- Mist
Mist is also a form of moisture that can reach your product and can damage the product unnoticed when it freezes. You can notice this when biking through the mist while it freezes. The moisture will have frozen onto your clothing. Therefor it can also freeze onto the product and damage it.

Invisible moisture damage
There are moisture damage causes that you will not realize or see until it has happened. The cause of the damage is often condensation. For example:
- Walking outside during the winter.
You are out walking on a winter day in the freezing cold. You have your product in your pocket. You walk back inside to warm up with a cup of coffee. Upon entering the warm space your product gets covered in condense and damages within your pocket. In many of these cases your product will start to show problems after a wile.
- Good air conditioning
In your car or at work you may have air conditioning. Outside it's hot. Cold air from the air conditioner cools your product. At some moment you go outside with the product. In the evening you come home and you want to use your product again and it doesnt work anymore. Why is that? Most likely the same reason as the two examples above. The product is cold, outdoor hot and condensation occurs. The PCB has been affected.

Condensation explained

Condensation is a major cause of moisture. Condensation occurs when warm air can hold more moisture than cold air. If this warm air brushes past a cold surface, e.g. a window, than it cools down. The air can now contain less moisture. The moisturized condense becomes liquid again on a cold surface.

Warm air contains more water
When cooking for instance, the temperature increases in the kitchen. Thus, the difference in temperature between the cold surface and the air becomes larger, and therefore there is more condensation.
When cooking a lot of water vapor escapes, for example, in the form of steam. Besides, if you are cooking on natural gas, the combustion of natural gas causes carbon dioxide and water. Therefore, you may notice that it feels cramped in a kitchen when cooking.

No guarantee for moisture damage
We do not give guarantee with moisture damage because the product is not the cause of the damage. You can trust that when you purchased your product, there was no moisture damage present.

Repair moisture damage

Vsoundbox does not restores moisture damage but does provides a suitable solution for both parties.

How to prevent moisture damage?

By taking prepared measures, you can avoid moisture damage. With one exception: you go to a tropical country and take your product with. We advise you to put the product in a see through airtight sealed plastic bag before going on a plane. That way customs can see what's in the bag. Let your product slowly acclimatize to different humidity levels.
It helps if you have a pouch of 'silica' in the airtight bag with your product. Silica gel contains millions of tiny pores that can hold moisture. In essence it is porous sand. Keep children and animals away from silica gel. It causes irritation if it gets eaten or inhaled as dust.
